A man who admitted to turning up drunk at his ex-partner’s house, threatening her and her new boyfriend and smashing her window with a clothes pole has dodged jail.
The Irvine man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had pled guilty to two charges at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court in August.
He returned to the court for sentencing last week following a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and Restriction of Liberty Assessment.
The 54-year-old had turned up at his expartner’s Irvine home on May 19 whilst under the influence of alcohol and behaved in a threatening or abusive manner.
He shouted and swore and refused to leave despite repeated pleas to do so from his ex and their 15-year-old daughter.
He then lifted a wooden clothes pole and smashed the living room window with it.
The dad of three was last week given a Community Payback Order of 120 hours of unpaid work with a 12-month supervision as a direct alternative to a custodial sentence.
He was also given a Non-Harassment Order for a period of two years.
