Pensioners in Irvine enjoyed an informative open day for anyone aged 55 and over to find about what is going on in the community.
The event, in the Volunteer Rooms, offered a wide range of information stalls including, Age Scotland, Care and Repair, Energy Home Services, Police and Fire Services, Thistle Care, Lawyers for Older People, Vennel Gardens, Coast Watch, My Bus, Hearing Loss U.K, WASPI Ayrshire, Meadow Community Club and many more.
The event was opened by the Provost Ian Clarkson and the main speaker was Bill Johnston Chairperson of the Scottish Seniors Alliance.
The event was funded from North Ayrshire Council’s Participatory Budget and it is hoped that it could become an annual event.
Chair of Irvine Seniors Forum Rosemary Byrne, said: “We had a brilliant turn out. It was a huge success. More so than even we expected. It would be great if we could make it an annual event because the feedback we got was very good, but it would all depend on funding and participation from stall holders. We will see.”
