A FORMER Irvine squaddie has climbed a mountain three times carrying a 50lbs back pack to raise money for sick kids.
Scott Brown went up and down Ben Lomond three times on Sunday (October 29) carrying a bergan weighing three-and-a-half stones on his back to raise money for Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity.
Scott had set himself a target of doing the triple climb in under 12 hours and smashed it - coming in at nine hours a 23 minutes.
And that's not the only target Scott managed to beat. He even surpassed his £800 fundraising target, managing to raise £1,007 so far.
Scott told the Times: "The climb went great. I couldn't believe how nice all the walkers were on the hill wanting to know who I was fundraising for and then they were donating.
"I've raised more than £1,000 so I am absolutely chuffed to bits."
But Scott says it wasn't easy. He said: "It was tough carrying that weight up and down the mountain on the quads. By the third climb they had started burning but I managed to finish well ahead my my target time of 12 hours, coming in at nine hours and 23 minutes so I'm over the moon.
"I'm looking forward to handing over a cheque to the hospital."
Now that challenege is ovewr, the newly married fitness instructor is concentrating on building up membership in his new gym, Next Level Gym which opened its doors just a few weeks ago.
He said: "The gym is doing great. It's only week three and getting new members ever two days so it's very positive. I had a target of amount of members I wanted to reach by January but I think I will reach it before that the way things have went. I'm so glad I made the move."
