A man has been remanded in custody after he denied assaulting and permanently disfiguring his girlfriend at an address in Irvine.
The 32-year-old, who we have not named to protect the identity of the alleged victim, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court recently and pled not guilty to two charges.
It is alleged that on September 2, the man threw a bowl which allegedly struck his girlfriend on the head.
He is alleged to have then seized her and struck her head against a wall, repeatedly slammed a door closed while the woman’s fingers were trapped in it, all to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
It is also alleged on the same date and within the same property that the man behaved in a threatening or abusive manner in that he threw various household items round the room and uttered threats of violence.
Bail was refused and the man was remanded in custody.
He will face trial at the court in December, with an intermediate diet next month.
