Police are on the hunt after three people were assaulted in Irvine.

Two men aged 54 and 62 years and a woman aged 62 years were crossing Quarry Road in Irvine with another female between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Friday 22 December.

A small dark coloured car then stopped and the driver got out and shouted at them then got back into the car.

He then approached the group again a short time later in a lane between Quarry Road and Dunton Knoll and assaulted them, striking the 54-year-old man with a weapon and assaulting the 62-year-old man and then assaulting the 62 year-old woman.

The 54-year-old man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock where he was treated for a head injury then later released.

The 62-year-old man and the 62-year-old woman were injured but did not require medical attended.

The man responsible is described as in his mid 20s, white, 6ft 1 in height and of slim build with some facial hair and wearing dark coloured clothing.
