PUPILS from St Mark’s primary School were crowned the winners of this year’s Seagate Rotary Quiz.
Last Friday, teams from seven local primary schools - Annick, Dreghorn, Elderbank, Glebe, Lawthorn, St John Ogilvie and St Mark’s - took part in the Rotary Primary School Quiz organised by Seagate Rotary Club.
This year’s competition was held at Fullarton Community Hub and in a closely fought contest St Mark’s Primary emerged as the winners whilst Dreghorn Primary and Glebe Primary who finished joint second.
This was the first time in nine years that there was a new winner of the competition.
The Quiz is aimed at Primary 7 pupils who compete in teams of four.
There are six rounds of questions covering General Knowledge and a variety of other topics.
St Mark’s winning team of Evie Brown, Frankie Phair, Fraser Corbett and Eilish Latham will now represent Irvine in the West of Scotland Rotary District Final to be held on Tuesday 22nd May at Pollokshaws Burgh Hall in Glasgow.
Eric Greig, President of Seagate Rotary, said: “It was a great competition and every team performed really well. The youngsters have shown how talented and inquisitive young people they are and every school should be proud of their pupils.”
