A man who assaulted a woman and a police officer has been jailed for eight months.

Stephen Hollis, 44, seized a woman by the hair and pulled her upstairs at an address in Irvine on April 27.

He then assaulted a police constable in execution of his duty and kicked him on the body at the same address on the same date.

Hollis also resisted, obstructed or hindered three police officers at the same time and place.

He struggled violently and lashed out with his arms and legs and pulled all three officers to the ground.

Hollis, of Canal Street in Saltcoats, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week and pled guilty to three charges.

His plea of not guilty to a fourth charge was accepted by the prosecutor.

He was jailed for 30 weeks.
