Heroin was smuggled into prison in a packet of crisps

AN Irvine woman tried to smuggle heroin past prison officers by hiding it in a packet of crisps, a court has heard.

Laura McIntyre, of LIvingstone Terrace, was visiting an inmate of HMP Bowhouse in Kilmarnock, on August 8, when she was caught in possession of the drug.
