INSPIRATIONAL Irvine woman Shirleyann Harris is undoubtedly one of the most decorated baton bearers nominated to carry the Commonwealth baton.
Despite being deaf and blind, Shirleyann has still managed to carve out an incredible career as a bowler, gaining accolades both nationally and internationally.
Having been unbeaten in her previous six national titles she could have been one of the front runners for Team Scotland at the Games in Glasgow.
Unfortunately Shirleyann had to retire a few years ago due to illness but received the nomination to carry the Commonwealth baton by her friends and family due to her incredible achievements and inspirational determination.
Despite being from Irvine, Shirleyann will be carrying the baton through Ardrossan but will be sure to receive a warm welcome when the baton passes through the town.
