MARYMASS Queens and Maries from past and present are being called upon to make this year’s annual festival the best ever.

A special Homecoming Queens reunion event is being hosted by the Carters Society and the Marymass Committee in a bid to get as many of the beauties from a bygone era, together as possible.

The event is to coincide with the 2014 Homecoming Scotland events which are celebrating the arrival of the Commonwealth Games and Ryder Cup, amongst others.

Former Queens Emma Morrison (2012) and Vicky Burns (2010) are spearheading the reunion effort with the help of Carters stalwart Andy Tremble.

Between them they have sent out more than 200 invitations to former Irvine Royalty in the hope they will be able to make it to this year’s event.

Andy told the Times: “Former Queens and Maries are welcome to come to the festival every year, but this year we decided to make it a proper reunion to coincide with the 2014 Homecoming events which are taking place across Scotland.

“We have gone to great lengths to track people down. Some of the former Queens and Maries have long since moved away, or in some cases have unfortunately passed away, but we just want to make sure that we are able to reach out to as many as possible and hopefully they will come along if they can.” But Andy says there are some former beauties who are proving difficult to reach and is urging anyone who was a former Queen or Mary and has not yet received an invitation, to get in touch with him at andy@harbourside.biz or call 01294 275515.
