A DREGHORN woman who admitted drink driving and speeding has been fined and banned.

Kelly Hutchison, of Townfoot, committed the offences at Lochilbo Road, Burnhouse, on June 20.

The 36-year-old admitted driving a van on the road and testing 50 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - exceeding the limit of 22 microgrammes of alcohol.

In addition, Hutchison exceeded the road’s 40mph speed limit by driving at 60mph as well as driving without her nearside and rear offside break lamps on.

Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, pictured, heard last week how Hutchison committed the offences at around 8.20am.

Police on patrol saw Hutchison’s vehicle clearly driving at speed in the area.

Using their speedometer they caught Hutchison travelling at 60mph.

Her vehicle was stopped and on speaking to Hutchison, the officers were concerned that she was under the influence.

Hutchison failed the roadside breath test and was taken to Saltcoats Police Office where she was cautioned and charged.

When appearing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, Hutchison pled guilty.

She appeared without legal representation and faced questioning from presiding Sheriff John Rafferty.

Hutchison revealed that she has been driving for ten years and had a previous conviction for speeding.

When explaining her actions to Sheriff Rafferty, Hutchison said: “It was a very bad decision that I am fully ashamed and remorsed about.

“It’s cost me a whole heap of terrible conversations with loved ones and I am genuinely sorry.

“I had been drinking the night before. I went to my bed, got up the morning after and I felt okay.

“But obviously it was a bad decision. I have no excuses for myself.” Hutchison revealed to Sheriff Rafferty that she is employed as a beauty therapist in Paisley taking home over £1,000 per month.

Hutchison was disqualified from driving for 12 months, fined a total of £410 and had three penalty points endorsed on her licence.
