GREENWOOD Academy pupils showed their generosity by raising funds for UNICEF and the local Foodbank before the end of term.
The pupils held a spare change collection for UNICEF over a week and raised a total of 24022 pennies to help fund the fight for children’s rights.
The project went so well that they hope to continue spare change collections next year at the end of each term.
The staff have asked pupils to remember to save all their spare pennies over the summer as they will be collecting again on return to school for the big collection day on October 5.
Pupils also brought in stacks of food for the local foodbank.
The final collection was made at the Academy at the end of the term and the pupils were as thoughtful as ever by bringing in all kinds of food which will go a long way.
The successful scheme will continue in the next session so the school’s pupils are being reminded to not waste food during the summer.
