IRVINE youngsters can look forward to a special summer theatre school next month - with the help of some professional actors.

Organised by local housing association ANCHO, Future Proof 2015 will take place at the Volunteer Rooms between August 3-14.

And there are still a few spaces available for young people aged eight to 18 where they will receive coaching and mentoring in all aspects of theatre production from known names in the world of theatre.

Louise McCarthy, fresh from a Scottish National Theatre tour of Yer Granny, along with Gayle Telfer Stevens, who played Francine in ‘Sunshine on Leith’, and Keira Lucchesi (Stella from River City, pictured) will be working alongside local actors Craig Glover, veteran of a number of Ayrshire Pantos and a recent tour of Cinders the Musical, and Steven Duffy, who has a whole range of television appearances to his credit. And coordinating all this will be experienced local actor, performer and coach, Evelyn Caputa. The summer school will culminate in a number of live performances at ANCHO’s Annual Fun Day on August 14 at the Redburn Community Centre, Irvine, bringing real street theatre back to Irvine!

Interested young people who have not registered yet should email evelyn.caputa@ancho.co.uk Evelyn said: “Our aim is to build confidence, encourage teamwork and enhance communication skills in the young people we work with.

“We want to provide them with practical experience as well as a range of employability skills, to promote future study and employment. And, at the same time, we want them to have fun!”
