A KILWINNING man last week admitted shouting a sectarian remark at a three-year-old.
Angus McLeod, of Ladyford Avenue, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week and represented himself.
The 62-year-old pleaded guilty and the court heard how on July 19, McLeod’s neighbours could hear shouting and swearing coming from the street and recognised his voice because he lives downstairs from them.
He was heard to be shouting ‘f**k’ repeatedly before shouting ‘Al punch yer f****g c*** in’.
McLeod was then heard to go into his home before hearing the three-year-old child of the neighbour running about and he shouted: “Ya wee w****r, stop that running about ya wee fenian.”
He was heard several times referring to the child as a fenian, which upset his neighbours who called the police. When they arrived, McLeod didn’t open the door but he was later charged and said: “I was paralytic.”
Sheriff Vaughan, presiding over the case, said that there were two matters, the circumstances surrounding McLeod’s behaviour and his personal circumstances before asking him if he had anything to say about the matter.
McLeod said: “All I can say is that I was very drunk, I usually go straight to my bed.”
Sheriff Vaughan deferred sentence for six months.
