KILWINNING schoolboy Scott Shaw will make history this weekend by becoming the first ever Segdoune king.
Blacklands pupil Scott will be the festival’s first ever male monarch, with Lewis Kirk of Whitehirst Park Primary School as his depute.
The rest of the Royal Party are Olivia Davidson, St. Winning’s Primary School; Grace Cassidy, St. Luke’s Primary School; Olivia Moffat, Pennyburn Primary School; Bryce Craig, Corsehill Primary School, and Eva Carroll, Abbey Primary School.
The Royal Party will be officially crowned at this year’s 51st Anniversary Crowning at the Segdoune Royal Carnival on the Main Street this Saturday, June 9.
John and Mary Boyd will crown this year’s Segdoune King, in recognition of their over 40 years service to the children and young people, especially as officers of the Kilwinning Boys Brigade.
After the ceremony, the fun will continue until 9pm with shows and stalls, great live entertainment, cheerleader displays, dance groups and much much more.
The programme for the day will be:
11am: Welcome and start of Entertainment on Main Stage, Stalls open on Main Street
Fun fair rides open on Main Street and Woodwynd Car park
12:30pm: Segdoune Royal Parade leaves Kilwinning Academy Car park and travels up Dalry Road turning left onto Howgate, turning left onto Lauchlan Way, turning right onto Church Street and then right up the Main Street to the stage.
1.15pm: Approx arrival of Royal party and parade at Main Stage
1.30pm: Crowning of Scott Shaw as Segdoune King 2018 by John and Mary Boyd
2pm: Entertainment on stage, stalls and Fun Fair
4pm: Entertainment on stage finishes, stalls and small children’s rides on Main Street finish
9pm: Fun Fair ends
