"WE need to do more".
That was the message from one North Ayrshire politician who is aiming to raise awareness on the rise of the potentially fatal disease, skin cancer.
Across Scotland the number malignant melanoma is increasing, with the number of people diagnosed with melanoma increasing from 447 in 1986 to 1,141 in 2010, making it the sixth most common cancer in Scotland this is set to increase by 1,500 between 2010 and 2016.
Currently it is the most common form of cancer for those aged between 15 and 34.
