THERE was high drama in Irvine recently after a car crash on a roundabout.

The incident occurred on Thursday, March 27 at around 4.28pm on Stanecastle Roundabout in Irvine when a car flipped onto its side leaving the driver trapped.

Emergency services raced to the scene immediately with officers from Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue able to luckily free the man from the vehicle.

Officers from Dreghorn Fire Station were among the emergency services called out to the incident and a spokesman from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "On March 27, officers attended a road traffic collision at around 4.28pm at Stanecastle Roundabout involving one private car.

"The car was found to be on its side with the man trapped inside. An ambulance and police were requested and the casualty was removed from the car and taken to Crosshouse Hospital for further treatment."
