POLICE have seized more than £7,000-worth of drugs during raids in Kilwinning.

Four houses were targeted during the first week of the multi-agency Safe Positive Communities initiative in the area.

Drugs with a street value of more than £7,000 were seized by police during the operation on Thursday, April 3 and three people have been reported to the procurator fiscal for offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Chief Inspector Tim Ross, Director of Community Safety at North Ayrshire Council said: “Hopefully this demonstrates that we will take action on the information provided to us by local communities.

“It should give people the confidence to tell us what they know about people who are selling drugs.” Anyone with information on crime is asked to contact Police Scotland by calling 101 (always dial 999 in an emergency) or to call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity is guaranteed.
