A spokesperson from Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “On Saturday, April 12 at 4.41pm there was a reported fire in Lugton Court, Irvine and on arrival the crews made contact with the two male occupiers from the premises who confirmed there was a fire.

“Crews were deployed into the incident and two officers wearing breathing apparatus with a jet extinguished a small fire in the living room of the affected flat.

“A further four breathing apparatuses (BA) then assisted to ventilate the remainder of the building due to substantial smoke logging.

“The casualties were treated in site by attending ambulance personnel and were later released.

“Fire crews continued to strip away all the burnt items within the living room and a Post Domestic Incident Response (PDIR) was carried out within the adjacent premises.”
