AN IRVINE man is set to stand trial for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and four others.

Sean McMorland, of Park Place, is accused of carrying out attacks on five people at address in Dalry on September 21.

At his partner’s home in Houston Crescent he is charged with seizing hold of her by the neck and pushing her, causing injury.

He is then alleged to have gone to a house in Merksworth Avenue, where he assaulted three more women and a man.

He is charged with seizing one of his alleged victims by the neck, pushing him, throwing her over a fence and kicking her on the body, causing injury, before placing another woman in a headlock.

It is then alleged that he assaulted two of the property’s residents, grabbing one woman by the body and throwing her to the ground, causing injury, before punching a man repeatedly on the head.

In the course of events, he is also accused of shouting, swearing, threatening his partner, damaging household items, disconnecting the telephone, taking a mobile phone from her and breaking it.

He is also charged with repeatedly striking and punching cars in the street, making offensive gestures and taking an aggressive stance, threatening police officers and struggling violently with them.

McMorland, 29, pled not guilty to five charges of assault and one charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.

He is set to stand trial in June.
