A WIND turbine company has secured funding to boost recruitment and training at its Irvine base.

Prontoport has worked closely with the Team North Ayrshire initiative in order to secure the funding to help achieve its forecast of doubling its turnover this year.

The wind turbine services company has worked with partners including North Ayrshire Council, Scottish Enterprise and Job Centre Plus on the expansion programme at its premises and develop its business.

In the last year, Prontoport has increased its workforce from 28 to 38 full-time employees with further jobs due to be created over the next year.

Included among the new recruits were two local young people, one of whom is now a certified Personal Protective Equipment Inspector, while the other is a fully qualified Wind Turbine Engineer.

David Hatfield, Operations Manager at Prontoport said: “We are delighted with the unique business support service now being provided by Team North Ayrshire.

“Our dedicated Account Manager is helping us to connect with the right people at the right time to drive our expansion and recruitment plans.” Karen Yeomans, Head of Development Planning, said: “The Team North Ayrshire partnership approach is a unique way of engaging with businesses and helping new companies to get started and existing companies to grow. Those looking to relocate and invest in North Ayrshire will also be given every encouragement.

“Our new way of working removes many of the barriers faced by businesses, making it easier to access a whole range of business support services.” For further business support information visit www.northayrshireforbusiness.com, or call 01294 449944.
