A KILWINNING charity has received over £10,000 in funding as part of a new award scheme.

Pennyburn Regeneration Youth Development Enterprise (PRYDE) in total received £10,500 from the Bank of Scotland Foundation, the only charity in North Ayrshire to be awarded the funding.

The group have worked tirelessly to bring the local community closer together, using money they’ve raised to set up The PLAYZ community hub in Pennyburn.

PRYDE provides help and guidance to an average of 700 young people every year from throughout the area and support eight other community organisations in Kilwinning.

Overall, a total of £214,560 has been awarded to 26 Scottish charities.

Kate Guthrie, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees and HR Director, Culture, Capability & Engagement, Lloyds Banking Group said: “There are many charities throughout Scotland that urgently need funding to allow them to continue to provide valuable support within their local communities. We are delighted to be able to award a further £214,560 today - bringing the total grants we’ve distributed to over £4.7m since November 2010.” In January, the Foundation launched a new Medium Grants Programme for grants of between £10,001 and £25,000 to support charities looking to develop or improve their local communities or address financial literacy and financial inclusion.

The Small Grants Programme provides funding of between £1,000 and £10,000 to local, regional and national charities and focuses on making positive change to people and their communities across Scotland.
