AN IRVINE brass band have been wowing some of the stars of the Commonwealth Games.

Irvine and Dreghorn Brass Band had the honour of performing at the Athletes Village last Friday, July 25 entertaining some of the Games’ top athletes.

The starstruck band marched through the village visiting various country zones and naturally gave a resounding performance when marching through the Team Scotland zone.

If that wasn’t enough, the talented group played two open air sets and went down a storm with the athletes and support staff at the village.

The band have certainly been on a high and this was the second of two major performances.

Before their party at the Games, The Queen was even treated to a performance by the band at Dumfries House for the opening of its Walled Garden.

Here are some of the fantastic pictures from the day including one with Team Scotland’s hockey star Kenny Bain who is the cousin of mother and son band members Anne Taylor and Scott Bilby.
