A FLASHER targeting school children is on the loose in Irvine.

The Irvine Times can exclusively reveal that police have been on the hunt since May for a man who exposed himself to 13-year-old school children in the town’s Lamont Drive.

The first reported incident of the man - who has been described as being aged 45-50 years old - exposing himself was on Friday, May 9.

It was also revealed that the flasher had struck not only before the school holidays but during the holidays also.

Despite receiving several reports about the flasher, police have still not managed to trace the man and have made an urgent plea for witnesses and information.

The startling revelation - which was made at a recent meeting of Irvine Community Council - is bound to worry parents and residents with just days remaining until the kids go back to school.

As the Times went to press, no arrests have been made in connection with the incidents.

Inspector Joe Conway confirmed at the meeting last Wednesday that police are still hunting the flasher and revealed that an action plan is in place to trace him.

He said: “Police received reports on May 9 in Lamont Drive of a male aged around 45 to 50 exposing himself to 13-year-old school children.

“We have an action plan in place in relation to that but unfortunately we’ve been unable to trace the male.

“This has continued up until the schools stopped and has also continued afterwards.
