A KILWINNING pub has been granted permission to have a bouncy castle in its beer garden.

Revels Sports Bar and Diner in the town’s Main Street applied to licensing chiefs at North Ayrshire Council to erect a children’s inflatable bouncy castle within the grounds of its outdoor drinking area.

At a meeting of the Licensing Board last Monday council bosses decided to grant the pub permission for its unusual request.

Also before the licensing board was the town’s Market Bar which was applying to open later on a Sunday as well as requesting a change to its entertainments license.

The pub, which stands in Howgate, has requested to have its Sunday hours extended from 11pm to midnight.

It has also applied to add 'live performances and karaoke’ to its entertainments licence.

However the board was not able to reach a decision last week due to objections lodged from local residents over concerns about potential noise.

Council bosses revealed that Environmental Health were being drafted in to consult on potential noise pollution and a decision would be made thereafter.

A spokeswoman for North Ayrshire Council said: “The application for a bouncy castle on the grounds of Revels Bar’s outdoor drinking area was granted by the Licensing Board.

“The application for a live performance licence and extended Sunday hours licence at Market Bar in Kilwinning will continue to be considered as it has attracted objections claiming that there are noise issues.

“A decision is expected to be given at the Licensing Board’s meeting on 17 November as this will allow Environmental Health to make enquiries and report to the Board on their findings and recommendations.”
