A KILWINNING dad was left outraged after taking his three-year-old daughter swimming and being confronted by a naked man.

Jason Dinning was with his little girl Khloe at Troon Swimming Pool when he came out of the changing cubicle to see a fully naked middle-aged man standing drying his hair with a towel.

Aware that his daughter would be exposed to the man, Jason, 29, quickly shielded her from seeing him and asked the man to cover up.

But to his astonishement he refused and told Jason, if he didn’t like it he should speak to management.

Jason, of Burns Place, said: “I couldn’t believe it. He must have known there was a wee girl inside the cubicle with me because she was singing and chatting away. When we came out there he was standing, bold as brass rubbing his head with a towel. I stood in front of Khloe so she couldn’t see and just said to him “Excuse me mate, would you mind covering up, I’ve got my wee girl here.” And he just said “No, I won’t. If you’ve got a problem, speak to the treasurer.” “I couldn’t believe it. I was only asking him to do the decent thing and he just refused.” Jason took his daughter and went to the main reception to speak with management about the man’s conduct, but was shocked when they told him to just use the disabled facilities instead.

He told the Times: “The manager came and told me he didn’t want to confront the naked man because he was a regular and told me I should just use the disabled changing room instead. The only problem with that is it can only be accessed by walking through the male changing room so me and my daughter had to walk past the naked man again - and he still didn’t cover up.” Jason now says he will never return to Troon Swimming Pool and is completely appalled with how the centre’s management dealt with the situation.

He said: “I just can’t believe they were more concerned about upsetting a regular than protecting a wee girl from being exposed to that.

“If that man had been swanning about with nothing on in front of young children in the Magnum he would have asked to leave and maybe even arrested. It’s not on. Troon Swimming Pool doesn’t have a family changing facility so there’s obviously gong to be a chance that people will be in the changing rooms with young children and I just think other users should respect that.” Jill Cronin, South Ayrshire Council’s Head of Enterprise, Development and Leisure said: “We have an inclusive and flexible approach for customers at all our leisure facilities and expect our customers to respect the needs of others at all times.

“Situations may occasionally arise where flexible or alternative changing arrangements are more suitable for individual customers and we will work with them to ensure they get the maximum enjoyment out of their visit to our leisure facilities.”
