A BIG thanks to all my fellow volunteers who took care of the Irvine Beat FM column these past few weeks.

I hope it has given you, the reader an insight into the kind of people we have volunteering at the station.

If you have been listening in over the past few weeks, you will have noticed some changes to our schedule.

The station now opens up at 8am with our very own Mr Morning, Andy Rutherford. Andy is with you till 11am and has all his regular features. His Album of the Week is at 9.30am and the Telly Theme Competition at 10.10am as usual.

From 11am to 12 midday we have the Golden Hour. Jack Bennie presents the hits and headlines from a certain year and you can have fun trying to guess the year. Jack keeps you waiting till the end of the hour to let you know what year he was featuring.

At midday, Jack takes you through the afternoon with the Lunchtime Show. On a Friday, we give Jack a day off and you have yours truly all the way through till 3pm that day.

At 3pm, it’s our very own Drivetime guy, Stuart Rodgers taking you all the way through to 6pm.

Over the past few weeks, Irvine Beat FM has managed to have a chat with a couple of pop stars from the 1980’s.

I had the pleasure of chatting to Kiki Dee on my show about her up an coming gig at Irvine’s Harbour Arts Centre. She was lovely to talk to and her show was amazing. She performed everything I hoped for.

Then just a week later, I had the pleasure of seeing 1980’s icon Nik Kershaw perform at the HAC. He was amazing! The next day, I picked up Nik to take him round to the Irvine Beat FM studios to record an interview. He was great to talk to, and had so many great stories to tell. This will be broadcast as an Awesome 80’s special during the festive period. Believe me when I tell you, it’s worth waiting for.

I have just had two weeks holiday, so I was itching to get back in front of the mic. Hey! I’m a radio geek, I make no apologies for that.

It was so good to present my Album Show on Wednesday. I had not only one but three Ayrshire singer songwriters performing on the show. It is always a pleasure to welcome Scott Nicol to the Irvine Beat FM studios, but he also brought Elisa Poli and Chloe Simpson along. I caught all three of them at Scott’s recent album launch in Ayr.

I actually felt like Jools Holland for a night, going from artist to artist. A great show!

November is going to be a busy month for me on The Album Show as I have organised a few live sessions. I have The Sneaks, Francis Lopez & Kinkystone booked in for live sessions.

In December I have Jamie McGeechan aka Little Fire in session, just prior to his album launch in Glasgow. All great Ayrshire talent that Irvine Beat FM is more than happy to promote. 2015 is already shaping up to being a great year for local talent on Irvine Beat FM.

Well, that is me till next week. Until then, keep your radio tuned to 107.2 Irvine Beat FM, your favourite local radio station.
