IRVINE’S MP is hoping for employment to be “considerably increased” in his constituency next year.

After receiving the latest unemployment figures, Brian Donohoe insists he will be working to bring more employment to Central Ayrshire in 2015.

The figures for November this year show a drop of 15 less people claiming Jobseekers Allowance compared to October in the constituency.

The total number of unemployed claimants for November in Central Ayrshire was 1,746.

The Labour MP is optimistic about the job outlook for next year but has warned there is no room for complacency.

Mr Donohoe said: “Although not a huge drop I still welcome any decrease in claimants in the constituency.

“I would think that this will be the beginning of the usual shop work and hospitality trade jobs which become available over the festive season.

“Scottish and UK unemployment has fallen considerably in the last quarter which shows there are further signs of recovery across the whole of the UK.

“I expect next month’s figures to show a considerable decrease as December always sees ‘Christmas jobs’ crop up to cover the busy festive period. “Hopefully we will not then see a considerable increase in claimants as these jobs then become no longer viable. “This year has seen Scottish employment increasing to record levels and unemployment down to such rates as it was before the financial crash.

“The outlook for the year ahead is a positive one however there is no time for complacency especially at a local level and I hope to be working with the relevant agencies over 2015 to see employment in Central Ayrshire considerably increased.”
