RESIDENTS of Springside have been urged to air their views on proposals for a new Post Office.

A six-week consultation period from now until February 19, is underway, during which locals can comment on the new centre.

The village’s new Post Office will be based in a Spar convenience store within the proposed commercial centre at the old Scott’s Corner premises in Main Street.

MP Brian Donohoe has urged locals to get involved in the consultation process.

He said: “The Post Office tell me that there will be a dedicated counter offering the usual products and services and it will be open from 6.30am to 10pm every day of the week.

“Customer parking will also be available at the front of the shop.

“The consultation exercise will be looking for feedback on such matters as the suitability of the new location and the premises as well as the accessibility of the Post Office itself within the building.

“I am pleased to see that this part of Springside is being transformed after lying derelict for many years. It is the centrepiece of a village that has already been enhanced with new houses and welcome extensions to existing businesses.” Residents can share their views through a new online questionnaire via this link: postofficeviews.co.uk Respondents should enter the branch code 1218439. The Post Office is expected to open in the early summer of 2015.
