AN IRVINE man who raised hundreds for charity last year is hoping to raise even more money in 2015.
Big-hearted Michael Kirkum Jnr raised a total of £846.38 in 2014 after participating in a number of gruelling charity challenges.
These included the 100k Race to the Stones Ultra in England which was done in aid of the Lauren’s Lifelines charity.
The 31-year-old proved he was a chip off the old block with father Michael Snr being well known to Times readers for his countless charity marathons.
And Michael Jnr revealed that he is back in training for the Edinburgh marathon along with a 55k Ultra trail event in the Lake District.
Speaking to the Times this week, Michael said: “In July last year I ran the 100k Ultra trial Race to the Stones and I was able to raise £846.38 for Lauren’s Lifelines.
“I’d like to thanks to all my friends, family and sponsors who helped me including Imran Ali of Premier Stores, Des Harkin, Billy Frew, Robert Brown and Ayrshire Hoodies for all my training gear.
“My dad is the person who has inspired me to do these events and raise money for charity.
“He’s raised thousands since 1992 and helped me get through the 100k with all his knowledge of those kind of events.
“We did it as a family this year as my dad and big sister both completed the 100k Ultra.
“I could go on forever with thanks for people but I appreciate all the support!” If you’d like to support Michael with his challenge you can email him weemick06@yahoo.co.uk
