IRVINE & Dreghorn Brass enjoyed great success at the Scottish Brass Band Championships at Perth Concert Hall last Saturday.

Headed by new conductor, Helen Douthwaite, they faced stiff competitions as they performed the test piece, “Evolution” by Philip Spark – and came second in their section.

That entitles them to represent Scotland by competing against the best bands in Britain and the National Brass Band Championships in Cheltenham in September – a huge honour and accomplishment.

Over the next few months the band will be fundraising furiously to allow them to represent Scotland and would welcome any support the community, local organisations and businesses could give them. This can be in any form, such as sponsorship, raffle prizes or even just supporting or advertising the band’s events.

The band’s next event, organised before the result on Saturday, is their Black & Gold Ball which will take place on Saturday, April 25 from 6.45pm, at the Menzies Hotel in Irvine. They would love for this event to be a huge success to get the fundraising ball rolling!

Tickets are £27.50 and include a three course meal, and live band, Addiction to boogie the night away to. To book tickets or a room, please contact Laura Shannon (07845725742) or Derek Leitch (07855062478).
