A TEENAGER who admitted drunkenly stealing and crashing a car in Irvine has been fined and banned.
Liam Davidson, 18, stole the car on New Year’s Eve in Lochilbo Road near to the A736.
He admitted driving without a licence and insurance near High Armsheugh Farm before losing control of the car and causing it to skid off the road.
The vehicle landed in a field after skidding over a verge.
In addition, Davidson admitted drink driving after testing 90 miligrammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of blood, exceeding the limit of 80 miligrammes.
Davidson, of Dardon Lough, West Danton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week and pled guilty.
The teenager appeared without representation and faced questions from presiding Sheriff Iona McDonald.
After evaluating Davidson’s Criminal Justice Social Work report, Sheriff McDonald said: “I am going to deal with it in a manner which has been recognised by the social work department in their report.
“The consequences of your actions means you take responsibility for them and do some work.” Davidson was fined a total of £340, ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work and disqualified from driving for one year.
