A KILWINNING school staked its claim as one of the town’s top fundraisers - by raising over £5,000 for Comic Relief.

In total, the mammoth efforts from kids and staff at Whitehirst Park Primary raised a staggering £5,106.21 for the charity.

The school’s charity committee were responsible for running a host of fundraising events for Red Nose Day.

The whole day was a sponsored afternoon of fun and all the pupils wore red to mark the occasion.

Every class had a different sponsored activity which included a sponsored Jogathon, Hopathon and Skipathon.

The charity committee even made Red Nose Day biscuits for everyone to enjoy.

And the school were so surprised at the amount of money they raised, they had to count the money twice!

Irvine Times photographer Charlie Gilmour was hugely impressed with the school’s fantastic fundraising and took this picture of the charity committee.

A huge well done to everyone at the school.
