IrvIne & Troon Cancer Care have just received a boost from Maureen and John Neil from Dreghorn.
Having had direct experience of the work carried out by the charity, Maureen and John who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary recently decided to provide a present to Cancer Care.
At their Golden Wedding celebrations they asked friends and family to provide a donation instead of presents to them. This came to fruition last Thursday, when they handed over a cheque for £1,100 to Irvine & Troon Cancer Care Chairman, Andy Slater.
Andy Slater said: “I’d like to thank Maureen and John, their family and friends for the great support they have given us. This money will go a long way to help us to continue with the on-going work of helping cancer patients in our community”.
Irvine & Troon Cancer Care has been providing free transport since 1987 for cancer patients attending hospitals in Glasgow and throughout Ayrshire to receive lifesaving treatment.
They are a registered charity and run entirely by volunteers, so any funds we receive go directly to patient care. The service they offer is available for anyone in the area to use and we cover the following: Irvine, Dreghorn, Springside, Drybridge, Dundonald, Loans, Barassie and Troon.
