A FILM revealing the inside of Irvine's new £46million mental health hospital has been released.

Woodlands View is set to open early summer 2016 and will offer state-of-the-art facilities on the Ayrshire Central Hospital site in Irvine.

It will provide inpatient accommodation for 206 people who need a level of care and rehabilitation that can only be provided by a short stay in hospital – and now North Ayrshire residents can take a sneak peek inside.

As the facility will provide inpatient care for different groups of patients it has a range of bedroom styles, two of which can be seen in the film.

Staff, service-users and members of the public saw first-hand the facilities on offer in full-size single en-suite bedrooms which were specially constructed on the site. The rooms were then filmed so a wider audience could also take a virtual tour of them and other areas within the building.

The bedrooms have been designed with fitted furniture which has ample storage and will have a large window with views of the landscaped gardens.

Colour schemes in all rooms have been chosen in consultation with staff, patients and members of the public.

Linda Boyd, Programme Manager for Woodland View, said: “The layout and interior design of the bedrooms has been critically important throughout the planning for this new facility. Each patient will have their own room and it is essential that the environment supports each patient’s therapeutic recovery.

“With the help of patients and our staff, we have designed individual en-suite bedrooms with furniture and fittings of a very high standard.

“I hope this film will offer a flavour of the type of facilities which will be on offer when Woodland View opens in early 2016.” Check out the video here: https://youtu.be/o93Jh4J7ft4
