AN IRVINE couple have been charged with assault and drug possession at a community centre.

Toni McMillan and Derek Ferguson, both of Dickson Drive, allegedly committed the offences on June 27 at Castlepark Community Centre.

Both are firstly accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing.

This was before they allegedly assaulted a man by punching him on the head, causing him to fall to the ground and kicking him on the body.

In addition, McMillan is accused of possessing cocaine while Ferguson is charged with assaulting another man with a belt.

McMillan, 26, and Ferguson, 27, were absent from Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week and no plea or declaration was made on their behalf.

Their case has been adjourned until October.
