THE MARYMASS Queen and Marys for 2008 have been announced and this year sees 15 year-old Kerri-Ann Murdoch from Irvine Royal Academy taking the crown.
The martial arts enthusiast hopes to kick her way into the Marymass festivities and cannot wait to get into her royal role.
The Irvine lass attends martial arts class twice a week and could be willing to challenge anyone who thinks she may not be the right choice!
She beamed: 'I"m really looking forward to it and I think the parade will likely be my highlight.
'Although I"ll probably be really nervous, I still think I"ll do just as well as Marymass Mary"s in years gone by!'
She will be joined by Greenwood Academy pupils Beth Ingram and Rachael McCallum, while St Matthews Acadmey will be represented by Megan Joyce and Carly Diamond.
The four make-up the quartet of Marys who will accompany Kerri-Ann in the Marymass festivities.
The programme will kick-off on August 14 and will run until August 25, with Marymass Saturday taking place on the 23rd.
Captain of the Carters, John Rorison, is looking forward to this year"s events and said: 'People come from all over to the Marymass Festival.
"The parade can stretch to anywhere in excess of a mile and I believe this year the events that will be held will top anything we have seen before.'
