A STEWARTON textile firm will be showing off their wares to hundreds of millions of people around the world this summer - as the latest Harry Potter blockbuster opens in cinemas across the globe.

Lochaven International has a supporting role in the ever-popular movie franchise as the manufacturer of all the school jumpers worn by the star cast, including Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.

The company, based in the town"s Avenue Street, have made a staggering 400 garments for the series" films - including this summer"s sure-fire hit Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Lochaven"s hard working 20-man team create the garments with detailing on the wrists and waistbands reflecting the different colours of the Hogwarts School houses - burgundy for Gryffindor, yellow for Hufflepuff, blue for Ravenclaw and green for Slytherin. Each has "Lochaven" and "Made in Scotland" on the label.

To keep up with the changing sizes of the cast and the stars as they grow and develop through the series, the movie"s wardrobe department sends back to Lochaven the jumpers used in the previous film. Each has the cast member"s name on the label and precise instructions on the changes in size required for the new garment.

Lochaven managing director Keith Murray said: 'It is a complex task, but we have a workforce at Lochaven which is talented, enthusiastic and represents the best skills in the Scottish textile industry.'
