IRVINE has been offered a hand of friendship this week - from its namesake in California!

Aileen was contacted by Emma Green, Multicultural Affairs Officer for the City of Irvine, California, who said in an email: 'I am writing to seek your assistance in establishing a friendship city relationship with one of the towns you represent, Irvine, North Ayrshire."
