Council leaders face up to 'devastating' effects of the credit crunch

COUNCIL bosses met yesterday to discuss how NAC will react to the devastating impact of the credit crunch.

The chiefs backed plans that will concentrate on training and jobs, teaching people about finance and working alongside companies looking to move to the area.

Chief Executive Ian Snodgrass said this was an "extremely challenging time" for North Ayrshire which, he admitted, is in a "position of disadvantage " compared to Scotland on the whole.

Check out this week's Times, out today, for a full report on the council's action plan.
