Major job loss fear at council
Incoming chief executive warns of 'financial pressure'
FEARS are mounting about the possibility of job cuts at North Ayrshire Council after incoming chief executive Elma Murray warned of the 'unprecedented financial pressure' being faced by the authority.
Ms Murray explained that 'significant changes' would have to be made as the council faces up to chopping £30m from its budgets over the next three years.
But her comments have been met with anger from union officials who are demanding an early meeting with the Chief Executive Designate and are calling on her to explain how the cuts will be made.
