We speak to the new NAC Chief Executive.
THE NEW Chief Executive of North Ayrshire Council has dismissed the idea that she shouldn't have taken the job at a time of economic turmoil.
Elma Murray, who officially took over NAC's top job in August, told the Times that she was "loving" her job and found the tough times invigorating.
North Ayrshire Council, like most local authorities, is facing up to years of cutbacks and savings, with funding from the Scottish Government being reduced in line with a smaller budget from Westminster.
But this hasn't fazed the new Chief Executive.
She told us this week: "It may sound a bit cliched but it really does get me up in the morning, the ability to make change happen."
"Over the next five to ten years we are going to face the challenge of year on year reductions in financial support.
"I am fully committed to that challenge.
