SPEED WARNING: Two motorists were allegedly caught breaking the limit on Harbour Road last week.

MOTORISTS are being warned to watch their dials in a notorious Irvine speed trap.

Traffic cops have caught a number of drivers breaking the limit in Harbour Road in recent months and officers are now issuing a reminder that the road is within a 30 mph zone.

The area, which runs next to the Maritime Museum, is regularly patrolled by traffic police who are continuing to catch motorists exceeding the limit.

Following two alleged speeding incidents on the road last week, PC Alan McPhail, from Irvine Community Safety, advised the limit is there for a reason.

He said: "It's not a built up area and it's quite an open road but nonetheless it's still in town and within a 30 mph limit."
