Occupants can now be moved into new homes

THREE streets in Kilwinning have finally been given names - after residents stepped in with their suggestions.

The decision means occupants can now move into the streets near to Whitehirst Park Road as postal addresses can be assigned.

Last month Kilwinning's councillors issued a plea for help in coming up with fresh names after they deemed the suggestions from developers Redrow Homes to be inappropriate.

Following an influx of ideas, Councillor John Ferguson said: "There has been considerable interest in naming the streets. We hoped for imaginative suggestions, and many names were put forward."

After throwing out the original suggestions of Eglinton Drive, Garnock Brae and Abbey Lane, the names Abbey View, Birklands Wynd and Cassiland Place have now been adopted by the councillors.
