AN IRVINE lad is set to change a meaning in the Oxford English Dictionary - after making an amazing historical discovery.

Sam Morton, 18, was carrying out research for his project on old photography techniques when he unearthed documents that prove a current dictionary definition is 130 years out of date.

Now the keen teen has sent his findings to the panel of expert editors who compile the language volume. And all he has to do is wait of the boffins to give it the green light and the reference will be changed forever.

The former Irvine Royal Academy and Greenwood pupil explained how his passion for history made him notice the dictionary definition for the word "pin hole camera" was focusing on the wrong data.
