Work begins on multi-million pound business park

ANNICKBANK Business Park will be the greenest of its kind in Scotland, according to project developers.

Work kicked off on the ambitious development in Irvine last week in a move aimed at attracting fresh investment to the town.

It is hoped the park's eco credentials can entice both locally established firms and companies from out with the area to set up business at the site.

And as the shovels hit the ground for the first time on Wednesday, the managing director of Glasgow based developer Speyroc, Alexander Haig, declared: "This will be the greenest business park that I'm aware of in Scotland.

"While individual buildings have been built to the highest energy efficiency, we have never done something where the entire park is developed to this standard."

Pupils from Greenwood Academy have taken a lead role in the move, which has seen S2 youngsters compete to design a logo and branding suitable for the business park.
