Kilwinning woman 'only kept alive' by sibling's actions

A WOMAN saved her drug addict sister's life after she suffered a suspected heroin overdose.

Paramedics and police were contacted when Natalie Harkness, of Viaduct Circle, Kilwinning, lapsed out of consciousness in October.

While paramedics arrived and performed CPR on the 20-year-old, her lawyer Peter Murray told Kilmarnock Sheriff Court that "she had only been kept alive by the actions of her sister".

It is understood that her sister had also performed CPR on Harkness before the arrival of the ambulance.

In court last week Harkness admitted being in possession of a class A drug. Sentence was deferred for background reports.
