Deputy Provost hits out over big freeze

AN IRVINE councillor has slammed North Ayrshire Council over its failure to grit treacherous pavements during the big freeze.

Deputy Provost Ian Clarkson made the comments after last week's snow and freezing conditions left busy walkways almost impassible for shoppers and residents.

He fumed: "I believe the high standards of the road's department have been breached."
