Irvine Digs Deep for Haiti
GENEROUS Irvine shoppers rallied together in an unprecedented show of support at the weekend, following the earthquake tragedy in Haitai.
As the millions were left dead, homeless or injured by the worst humanitarian crisis in decades, people in our town kindly handed over £1200 to a collection organised by Seagate Rotary in a single day.
And President of the group Alexander Niven has reassured donors that their cash is already on its way to the catastrophe-hit country in the form of aid packs containing tents, tools, and clothes.
After collecting money at the Irvine Cross from 9am-5pm on Saturday, he said: "There was a feeling that the people of Irvine wanted to do whatever they could to help."
