Why is Van the man for Graham?

AN IRVINE artist who has been hitting the headlines with his portraits of stars like Michael Jackson and Tiger Woods has turned his attention on a more historical figure - Vincent Van Gogh.

And Graham McKean, who is based at the Irvine Harbour studios, said he was inspired to paint the Dutch artist because he was his hero.

He said: "I'm a big fan of Van Gogh.

"It's probably looking at his paintings that inspired me to take up the brush myself. So it just seemed natural to make him the subject."
